In general:

Breasts are aesthetically important structures for all women. For this reason, small (hypotrophy) with or without drooping deformations in the breasts may be very stressful for many women.

There are multiple reasons for hypotrophy of the breasts. The breast may be small from birth or shrinkage may occur with sagging due to reasons such as breastfeeding or weight loss.

What is the purpose when planning a breast augmentation operation?

In these cases, the purpose of breast augmentation is to provide the desired aesthetic appearance with fullness in the breasts and to help the patient gain self-confidence.

How are breast augmentation operations performed?

It is an operation that lasts about 40-45 minutes in experienced hands. General anesthesia is mostly preferred, and it does not require insertion of drains or hospitalization after the operation. Interventions can be made under the breast, under the armpit and around the nipple, and the prosthesis is placed either under or on the muscle. Prof. Dr. Ömer Refik Özerdem, because of his observations after many breast augmentation surgeries in 30 years, concluded that performing an under-breast access and under-muscle prosthesis insertion provide a shorter recovery, more symmetry and much less complications.

In patients who do a lot of sports, it is preferred to place the prosthesis over the muscle. For this reason, if heavy exercises that work the muscles are frequently performed professionally, the physician should be informed before the operation.

How is coexisted sagging (breast ptosis) problem managed?

Augmentation with breast prosthesis intervention can be done together with breast lift and other breast operations. Although the prosthesis alone may be sufficient for the treatment of slightly sagging small breasts, it would be a better choice to perform a combination of lifting-augmentation in larger and more sagging breasts.

How long is the hospital stay after the surgery?

No hospitalization is needed in most cases, sometimes even when performed with lifting operation

Will there be any scars after the surgery?

The scar is hidden under the breast, around the areolar line or armpits. The prominence of the scars may vary according to the genetic structure of the patient's skin.

How often should the check-ups be after the surgery?

In general, the patient is seen on the 3rd and 7th day after surgery. In this case, patients coming from outside the city and abroad should stay in the city for at least one week. What is the recovery process like after breast (breast) augmentation surgery?

How long is recovery?

It is normal to have varying degrees of pain in the first 3 days of the surgery, which differs from person to person. Edema (swelling), which differs according to the genetic structure of the people in these three days, is also an expected process. The swelling starts to relieve after the 4th day. Hard and purple areas heal within a few weeks.

How long should it be waited for the breast tissue to take its final shape after the surgery?

The process is at least 3, ideally 6 months. At the end of this period, shape, symmetry, trace etc. evaluation is more accurate.

How long should a medical bra be used after the surgery?

Although the duration may vary from patient to patient, the general trend is to continue the use of medical bras for 1 - 1.5 months.

What are the risks of breast augmentation surgery?

It should be noted that every surgical intervention carries a risk. In the early period bleeding, infection, wound healing problems are rare but possible complications. Anesthesia can also have several possible complications. To minimize the risks, many precautions are taken before the operation, certain examinations and treatments are provided to the patient.
