Ömer Refik Özerdem, M.D. holds both the European and Turkish Board certifications in Plastic Surgery. He is a member of several specialist societies based in the USA, Europe and Turkey and has trained and performed surgery alongside some of the most prominent plastic surgeons in his field. He has frequently travelled abroad to take up specialist positions. He regularly contributes his insight into articles, book chapters and makes contributions to the media. Despite his busy schedule, he still finds time to loyally attend his private clinic and surgery in Turkey. After receiving his Medical Degree from Ege University in 1991, Prof. Dr. Ozerdem completed Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at Çukurova University in 1998. He continued to pursue his education and training even further completing a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburg in 2000. Here, he worked as the fellow of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Losken, who is one of the well known plastic and craniofacial surgeons. Prof. Dr. Ozerdem led program and courses at Baskent University following two years. He completed the Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship (face-neck, head) program at the University of Miami and Miami Children’s Hospital in 2003. Here, he worked as the assistant of Prof. Dr. S. Anthony Wolfe, who is one of the pioneers of the field. This training program was followed by another two years at Baskent University as an Associate Professor. In 2005, he was accepted to the Aesthetic Surgery Subspecialty Program in Alabama University at Birmingham. Here, he worked as a fellow of Prof. Dr. Luis Vasconez, who is one of the mentors of plastic and aesthetic surgery. He also worked as an academic member in the affiliated hospitals of the same university.
